The challenge
Canada’s boreal forest is rich in biodiversity, home to hundreds of Indigenous communities, and one of our best protections against climate change. But it is under threat from unsustainable logging and industrial development. On a mission to protect this important ecosystem, Greenpeace engaged Shot In The Dark to produce a series of videos that would pique interest, awareness and action on national conservation issues.
Deliverables
A two-minute showcase video; eight short recipe videos; production stills for digital campaign.
STRATEGY & story
Shot In The Dark partnered with well-known Yukon chef, Michele Genest to create a short film that combines her personal cooking approach and experiences with a narrative about the history, cultural traditions, environmental importance and bounty of the boreal forest. We identified recipes as another gateway to connect people to the cause and we produced eight short (delicious) videos showcasing Michele and other local creators — Jennifer Tyldesley (Free Pour Jenny’s) and Joella Hogan (Yukon Soaps).
